Sorry,
Projects for Char-Broil, Summer Classics, Avant, and the Hangout Music Festival can only be shown in person for IP reasons.
Check out these neat projects for now.
I am a researcher. I understand what people want. I can bring concepts from sketch to reality.
Projects for the Hangout Music Festival, Avant, ARM, and Char-Broil are not available at this time for IP reasons.
Furniture Internship
SEVERAL OF MY DESIGNS FEATUREDI began to develop myself as someone who could bring concepts to reality through a furniture design internship with Summer Classics. | DEVELOPING A PATIO SETThere, I developed several collections, from which these are two examples of my work—one line focused on heavier, sleek, resin and extruded aluminum furniture; | SKETCHING FOR GABBYAnother line focused on lighter, transitional, airy and feminine lamps, |
---|---|---|
CONSUMER RESEARCHI developed my concepts from trends and what our consumer research showed our buyers wanted in their furniture. | UNDERSTANDING MATERIALS | DESIGNING FOR MANUFACTURINGBut I believe it was because of my understanding of what our company was good at manufacturing that |
furniture manuf.jpgAbout 15 concepts were made as samples, and | LAMPS FOR GABBY | PATIO SET 1Several of my concepts can now be seen featured in the leading luxury furniture catalog in the US. |

MODULAR BIOSENSOR PLATFORMI applied my trend awareness to a 3-week open project, where I chose to focus on sensors. | THE FUTURE OF HEALTH SENSORSSensors no longer just check your heart rate; hundreds are coming out to address health issues that maybe someone you know has, like Alzheimer's, seizures, diabetes. | WHAT PEOPLE WANTBut even though these sensors could save lives, they’re being put into products that people don't really want to wear. So when I looked at what people DO want in their biotech, |
---|---|---|
SKETCHINGI found they wanted something more fashionable, that let them hide that they had a health problem, | MODULAR CONCEPTThat gave the ability to choose their health sensor and then several others that maybe sensed their emotions and changed their music for them, | MULTIPLE SENSOR PLATFORMSo I developed a platform for sensors that let users insert multiple sensors, a platform which now has a provisional utility patent, and used flexible circuit boards, FOLED screens, etc. |
CUSTOMIZING TO CONNECTI then began developing ways to change out covers and clasps, to match different users' emotional needs, | SEQUENCE OF USESo with this concept, for example, a diabetic user could insert their health sensor, insert other sensors, | MODULAR BIOSENSOR PLATFORMAnd customize it to help them want to wear the sensors that could save their lives, because they connect with it because they made it theirs. |

Blood Lab for the Home
BLOOD LAB FOR THE HOMEI further developed my fluency with technology in a project where I looked to shift diagnostics from the hospital to the home. | SPEAKING WITH A LEAD NURSEI did this because I found that nurses are vastly overbooked, so patients do not always get the care they need. | PROBLEMS WITH CURRENT DIAGNOSTICSAnd while blood tests are currently the most effective method of diagnosis, lab tests require $40,000 equipment and tests can cost up to $8000, and tests take a while and often miss problems because they look for a limited scope. |
---|---|---|
SKETCHINGI found people wanted something slightly medical looking, with a touch screen, that let people check their results with a medical professional. | SURVEYSI developed and chose the form based on surveys, | INTERVIEWINGAs well as through talking to people who could use a device like this to manage ongoing health issues, to find out what people really wanted. |
MODEL MAKINGBy talking to experts in the field, I refined how the internal components fit into this product, and used models to test the form for usability. | SOURCING PARTS | EXPLORING MANUFACTURINGAnd looked at the whole life cycle of the product, from manufacturing of parts, |
POTENTIAL PACKAGING DESIGNS | POTENTIAL INTERFACE DESIGNS | USABILITY TESTINGAnd the result was a product that, during user testing, generated the response of, “this product is perfect for me.” |
WHAT IT DOESIt’s not just a form, product that uses inexpensive, cutting-edge technology to bring laboratory-level diagnostics to the home at a fraction of the price, free up hospital staff, save hospitals up to 15 mil over 5 years by outsourcing lab services. |
Class 2 Medical Device Interaction
This video will walk through the creation of the concept, interviews with people in the field, and presentation to several medical professionals. Thanks for watching!
